Dragon Award Nomination! More Motivation!

Good evening to all my blogger friends. Just wanted to let you all know that I got back home from Puerto Rico safe after saying goodbye to my Petie. I did miss my colleague’s wake and funeral while I was away, but I heard it was beautiful and I would have been proud. That being said, I caught up on my messages and emails and lo and behold, a couple of good things happened too. They’re both worthy of their own posts, but I am doing this one tonight.

dragons-loyalty-awardMy friend Krystol at A Writer With Something To Say has honored me with The Dragonโ€™s Loyalty Award .

Thank you so much Krystol, you have made my day! ๐Ÿ˜€

2. Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh at Alex J. Cavanaugh
3. Karen Soutar at Karen Soutar and
4. Melissa Janda at Melissa Janda – A Time to Write
Seven Interesting Facts about me:

  1. Although I use the name Lilica or Lily in all my writing, blogging and reviewing, my real name is Eva! OMG!ย  ๐Ÿ˜€ย  Who’da thunk it…
  2. I am taking an online fiction writing class with Gotham Writing Workshops and loving it.
  3. I seriously considering dedicating a separate page to stroke awareness and resources in memory of those close to me that I’ve lost recently (under my real name)
  4. I am currently planning a trip (if doctors give me the OK) to visit Hungary some time late this year or early next. Never been and would love to see where my parents were born.
  5. I love House of Cards and Kevin Spacey.
  6. I will have something published this year!
  7. I know I’m behind the times, but I treated myself to the newest Keurig model and am so loving it. Even I deserve to be spoiled once in a while.

It’s Good to be Back! Happy Belated Blogiversary to Me!!

Hey to all my beloved blog buddies! I’m back to blogging, a little at a time, because I’ve missed you all so much. I’ve missed the writing, the interactions, the comments, and community. I haven’t been well for the past couple of months, dropping weight and eating little. Luckily, my testing shows that everything looks pretty good except for a bit of a thyroid issue. So, in addition to my usual meds, I’m taking something for my thyroid as well. It seems to be working. My appetite is coming back, I’m not feeling as run down since I’ve been on them and I don’t suffer the constant feeling between hot and cold.

For a while, I was really beginning to worry. I’d been neglecting even my everyday writing, which I rarely did, even when I took breaks from blogging. A couple of weeks ago I had my first anniversary of blogging and wasn’t even up to celebrating. So I guess this is my happy to be back, belated blogiversary post with balloons and cake! ๐Ÿ™‚ I know I left off a couple of months back with my ‘series’ on Coming clean about my stroke. I suppose I’ll continue telling it, but it seems like it’s been so long since I’ve posted it in its parts, that I may just continue talking about it in general; or if you guys would prefer me to continue posting the series in parts, please let me know in the comments or email. cake2

I’d really like to know. It’s going to take me a little while to get back into the swing of things, but you have all been so patient with me and the outpouring of love I get is unreal. Most importantly, I have to thank my BFF, Marilyn Parel,

My best friend's page: On Becoming a Writer

My best friend’s page: On Becoming a Writer

for picking up some of the slack for me, because she has been great (and is continuing to be great) by posting on my blog at least once a week. You can find herย  by clicking on the image to the left. Anyhow, my darling BFF will probably continue to post once a week for me until I get into a regular routine again. I’m aiming to post at least once a week to start, while going back to my WIP. While I was under the weather, I WAS able to get a lot of reading done, so I’m thinking of posting some book reviews on the blog too. I’m curious about what you guys think of that. I sometimes post reviews on Amazon or Goodreads, but not always. Any suggestions would be awesome. It’ll help me get my focus back.

Just typing up this post is making me feel like a million bucks, so I have a feeling I’m going to be back with a vengeance soon enough. That being said, Happy Blogiversary to Me, I love and miss you guys and until next post… Nighty Night. Lily

It’s That Time…IWSG

This is the first post I’ve written in some time. It feels almost foreign.InsecureWritersSupportGroup

I missed last month’s posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group, which was founded by the amazing Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh, and didn’t want to miss two months in a row. It’s a safe haven where writer’s can write about their thoughts, fears, insecurities and doubts without fear. If you would like to be a part of this amazing group, please click on the icon below and you will be transported to the site where you can sign up. I haven’t been feeling 100% for some time. Over the past four or five weeks it’s been worse. I haven’t eaten much, have dropped more weight and have had zero energy.

I have missed you all more than I can even express with words on a page. That was when I asked my best friend Marilyn Parel over at http://onbecomingawriter.com to do me the favor and post on my blog for me, so you would all know that I’m OK, think about you all and haven’t forgotten you. She did an amazing post for me about love and happiness a few days ago and my girl inspires me. I’ve spent the past three hours just getting this far in my post, so it’s going to be somewhat short this month. I’m still waiting on some test results from my primary care doctor and my hematologist. So, in addition to love and happiness, I’d like to touch on this great thing called HOPE. I have a ton of it. Although I’ve gotten a lot of bad news since the beginning of the year; I’ve been terminated from my job (who knew?), lost my health insurance (found that out the hard way at my last doctor’s visit), been feeling like crap, and have barely written or edited a word of my writings, I am full of HOPE that I am going to get a lot of good news very shortly.

Marilyn has graciously offered to post on my blog once a week for me until I feel up to snuff and for that I am eternally grateful. One thing I can honestly say, is that I have been able to get a lot of reading in. I suppose that’s a good thing for us writers, no? ๐Ÿ™‚

That being said, I’d like to take a moment to thank you all for standing behind me and taking the time out (especially those who have inquired personally) to check on me. Keep your fingers crossed that all my lab work comes back OK!

By the way, yesterday was my first anniversary blogging… I wish I would have been in a condition to celebrate with a big old blog party!

Until next blog, love you guys!!!

I cannot believe this is my first post in almost a month, and it happens to be the first Wednesday of the month, which also means… (Drum roll please… It is time for another post for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by the รผber awesome Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh! The Ninja’s Associates for this month’s meeting are: Julie Flanders, Heather Gardner, Kim Van Sickler and Elsie is Writing. Thank you so much for assisting Alex this month! Everyone appreciates and acknowledges your time and efforts!

For those of you who are not familiar with the IWSG, it is a safe haven where writers of all levels and experience can go to discuss and post their innermost thoughts and fears without fear of embarrassment, mockery and other such tomfoolery. We are here to motivate and encourage you, not to belittle you, make you feel inadequate or weak. If you would like to become a part of this amazing group of writers, please, please, please, I encourage you, to click on the image posted beside these words and we will transport you to the IWSG website, where you can sign up.

With that being said, I must apologize to one and all for my absence these past few weeks from my blog. I thought I would be able to squeeze a few short posts in between working NaNoWriMo, but during the first week of November, I also found a place to live, so I had to pack! Anyhoo, I do apologize and will catch up at some point this month, between the move.

The bigger news is: I GOT MY WINNER BADGE ON NANOWRIMO! I know you can’t see it, but you can try to visualize me doing some crooked jumping jacks and yelling HUZZAHHH! across the room! ๐Ÿ™‚

I validated my novel at 50,091 words, and although it is not done yet, I have a good idea of where I am heading with it and after I let it rest for a couple of weeks, I will go back and rip it apart with the editing and revisions. Realistically, I will probably only use about one-third of what I actually wrote. Ah, well, at least I have some good characters.

I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to give up during the month because I kept falling behind in my word count, at one point I was behind almost 12,000 words. Of course, we all need to motivate ourselves to keep writing and doing what we need to do, because it is work, hard work, but do you ever feel that if it were not for the push of some very special people, you would not have been able to accomplish that one very important thing you did not think you could do on your own? I know I do. For helping me get through and winning NaNoWriMo and NEVER letting me give up, thank you goes out to:

My best friend in the cyber-world, Marilyn, http://onbecomingawriter.com,

and my fellow NaNo participants and mutual winners!! Huzzahhh!!

Melissa Janda at http://melissajanda.wordpress.com, Leanne Ross at http://readfaced.wordpress.com and Catherine Lumb at http://nowrittenwords.wordpress.com or http://www.catlumb.com. Without you, I would have been a mess, and for everyone else whose blog I visited and gave boatloads of useful advice, I thank you too! That is all I have for this month’s post for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group. I am going to finish my Dunkin’ Donuts Pumpkin Coffee now, visit a few blogs, enjoy a good read, sleep, finish cleaning out my cottage tomorrow, and start catching up on some posts already!

PS – Have I told you all lately how very much I have missed you this past month? Oh my God, it has been torture! Until next post, I love you guys.

More Award Nominations!

I’ve been so caught up with things over the past couple of months, my Stroke Journey telling and some unforeseen circumstances, that I’ve fallen behind in accepting new Awards I’ve been nominated for.ย  Some of them go back to August!! (Looking down at the floor in shame)… I am so very sorry. I was going to address the Awards in one post and cover them all in one shot. Some are duplicate Awards, but out of respect and gratitude to the person(s) that nominated me, I wanted to fulfill the Award requirements. I can’t accomplish that in one post, unless you want to read one gigantic post. . . I didn’t think so either.ย

What I am going to do instead, is work my way from the oldest to the newest and have them done no later than Tuesday. Expect two or three Award related posts within the next two days. ๐Ÿ™‚

Going all the way back to August;

WORDPRESS FAMILY AWARD

I must thank my adopted WordPress daughter Briana Vedsted over at http://whenibecameanauthor.wordpress.com for nominating me for the WordPress Family Award. This is a big one for me. Once again, she has made me feel so blessed and humbled. I didn’t forget you Briana!! ๐Ÿ˜€

The rules for accepting this Award are as follows:

1. Display the Award logo on your blog

2. Link back to the person who nominated you.

3. Nominate ten others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family.

4. Let your ten family members know you have awarded them. ย That’s it! Just make sure these people have taken you in as a friend/family member, and then spread that love!!!

I know some of my nominees already have this award. I don’t expect them to go through the procedure, but I nominated them anyway because they have helped me so much since I started blogging and getting more serious about my writing. I only ask that they accept it in the spirit in which it is given.

My nominees for this award are:

  1. Marilyn Parel, my BFF over at http://onbecomingawriter.com, who has been with me from my very first days. I don’t know what I’d do without her. Check out her blog when you get a chance. 9. Jennifer over at http://jenniferzeiger.com who’s got a really cool site with reader participation story creations, great short stories and other info. She just released a book on Halloween ‘Midnight Abyss’, which was a collaborative effort between her and eight other great writers who met at Writers Carnival, a great writers group that I am proud to say I am a part of.
  10. My friend over at http://lifeconfusions.wordpress.com . She’s a wonderful young lady with a great new blog, and posts things I love, like ‘A song a day keeps the sadness away’ ๐Ÿ™‚ Check her out sometime! Oh, and she’s studying physiology too. Hello!!

That’s going to be it for this Award post. Congratulations to my nominees! Until next post, love you guys!
