#IWSG – WORDS TO PAPER, FINALLY

Hello all! Oh my gawd, I almost forgot it’s IWSG day!

IWSG-badgeSo that means it’s time for another meeting of the Insecure Writers Support Group – #IWSG.

My hero, the amazing Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh founded this group and it has become a safe haven if you are an insecure writer.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak.

The awesome co-hosts for the May 4 posting of the IWSG are Stephen Tremp, Fundy Blue, MJ Fifield, Loni Townsend, Bish Denham, Susan Gourley, and Stephanie Faris!

Don’t forget to thank them for their hard work!

Health issues and my recent struggles with depression have caused me to spend less time blogging and interacting with my online friends. Not only that, I hadn’t written or edited a word for at least two months. Until today. A few days ago a friend asked me, while I was in the middle of a sobbing episode, if I’ve still been writing. I sobbed some more and told her I just didn’t have the energy.

After I calmed down, she reminded me how much I used to talk about the stories in my head and the editing that needs to be done on my WIPs. She knows writing is my release and always makes me feel better. I thought about what she said and decided I needed to push past my depression and write something – anything.

Today, I pulled up one of my WIPs and spent a good half hour just staring at the screen drawing blanks. I finally read through some of my chapters and saw a scene in my head. I went with it and was able to type about 1,000 words. It felt good. I almost forgot how much I missed it because I’ve been so focused on everything else going on in my life.

I’m hoping to keep up the momentum and let it all out. Any suggestions on jump starting when having a rough time? I could use the advice.

The awesome co-hosts for the April 6 posting of the IWSG will be Megan Morgan, Chris Votey, Viola Fury, Christine Rains, Madeline Mora-Summonte, L.G. Keltner, Rachna Chhabria, and Patricia Lynne!

So, it happened again. Life, that is. This time it hit me harder than usual. I’ve checked my stats and I haven’t written a post here since February. Eeep! When I was feeling great, I set up an entire ‘blog schedule’ of when I would be posting. I have to say ‘In my dreams’ right about now. My heart is hurting because of it, but I know that it couldn’t be helped. That fact should make me feel better. Does it? Nope.

Everything’s been on hold for the past couple of months and I don’t like it one bit. I’m not going to rehash details here because I said enough on my other blog, My Miracle Life. Now, as I’ve done in the past, I’m cleaning out my email accounts (tons of email!), trying to catch up on reading for reviews, writing out some blog posts and trying to carve out time for social media. Yipes.

I usually say it is what it is, but I hate saying that. I want it to be better and I want to be able to achieve what I want to achieve, obstacles be damned.

Any ideas on how I can make this happen? I sure could use the help.

Jackie Felger from Bouquet of Books and Dani Bertrand from Entertaining Interests founded this great blog hop that has a great group of people with weekly topics that change every month. They also have a site they co-author together:  Cover Girls.

This topic for Oct. 5 – 9 is:

Where would be the scariest place to spend Halloween?

There are several places that would totally creep me out if I had to spend Halloween at any of them.

I think the scariest place for me would be an old, abandoned castle (so Dracula-esque). If I had a few friends with me, I might be brave enough to do it. Probably. Maybe. Then again, maybe not, since I have difficulty at haunted hay-rides. Yeah, I said it; I’m a punk now. **Sighs**

Where would your scariest place be to spend Halloween? Feel free to list more than one.

I will be co-hosting this month’s #IWSG along with the amazing  TB Markinson, Tamara Narayan, Shannon Lawrence, and Stephanie Faris, Please make it a point to stop by and say Hi!

I’m keeping this month’s post simple, just like my heading states. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what direction I want to take this blog. My initial goal with it was to chronicle my writing journey, but life always seems to have other plans.

I still intend to keep everyone posted about my writing status, but I need to add some meat and bones to my baby. I’ve decided to add weekly book reviews, occasional guest posts and blog hops, and of course, our monthly IWSG meetings. I don’t know about you, but the IWSG is like a drug to me. 🙂

Psst, don’t forget about the Anthology Contest!

Any suggestions on what else I could include on my blog? Is there anything in particular YOU would like me to add?

The awesome co-hosts for the September 2 posting of the IWSG are Julie Flanders, Murees Dupé, Dolorah at Book Lover, Christine Rains, and Heather Gardner!

Summer is now coming to an end and my favorite time of year is drawing near. Yay! Autumn has always been my favorite time of year, hands down. The beautiful turning of leaves and the crunching of them under my feet when they fall. I can’t wait! I’ll be giving up the Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas and having my hot Pumpkin coffees instead. Bliss.

You’re probably saying to yourselves, “What does this have to do with writing?” Good question. Well, nothing. And everything, for me at least. I don’t know why, but my creativity tends to peak in the fall months. My ideas come in leaps and bounds. Maybe it’s because I know that Halloween and Thanksgiving are around the corner, and NaNo too. Go figure.

It also helps that my pain levels decrease during milder weather. I can’t forget that. That is definitely a biggie.

Do you have a particular season brings out your creativity? What inspires your muse? What is your favorite season and why? Just curious.
