Expressing Gratitude for the Butterfly Light Award Nomination

Happy Sunday, fellow bloggers. Going through my comments, I find that I have been nominated for the Butterfly Light Award by my friend Deanie Humphrys-Dunne, author of award-winning children’s book Tails of Sweetbriar.Butterfly Light Award

Conditions For Accepting The Award
Here are the conditions for accepting the award :
1. You must write an acceptance post, making sure you link back to the blogger who awarded you and thank them. You MAY NOT lump this award in with a batch of other awards.
2. You must individually name and re-award to a minimum of 1 blogger. You must let them know either personally with a comment on their blog OR a pingback.
4. You must write a short paragraph entitled either “How I’m Spreading Light” OR “How I’m A Positive Influence”
5. Display Belinda’s lovely “Butterfly Light Award” badge on your blog.
Thanks so much, Deanie for thinking of me for this Award! It is a special one and I will treat it as such. 🙂 I’m so blessed to be able to call you my friend.
How I’m a Positive Influence
I am a positive influence by offering the best advice I can to the younger generation. Back when I was still working as an EMT, I had countless ‘kids’ who were either EMTs or paramedics half my age that came to me for advice, both personal and job related. It took me over a year of therapies after my bleed to be able to slowly start my blogging and writing adventure. I look at my WordPress site and still don’t know what half the doohickeys do, but I’ll learn. After a handful of recent heart-wrenching losses, I’m researching sites and resources, so I can make them available to others. I’ve picked up many other things along the way and share what I’ve learned freely. I believe in paying it forward; I promote other writers and artists works, so others can do the same.
I consider this to be a very special Award, and because of that, I am only nominating one blogger for it:
Jo Murphey-THE MURPHEY SAGA has inspired, motivated and, at times invisibly knocked sense back into my head whenever I would have a ‘woe is me’ day. Her Sunday stroke posts are especially helpful. I subscribe to her blog by email and read it always. I know how busy she is and don’t expect her to be able to follow the rules and guidelines required for accepting this Award. I wouldn’t be surprised if she did, though; at the end of her posts, she always ends with: “Nothing is impossible with determination.” Her faith, determination, and motivation helps fuel mine. I love her! 😀

Dragon Award Nomination! More Motivation!

Good evening to all my blogger friends. Just wanted to let you all know that I got back home from Puerto Rico safe after saying goodbye to my Petie. I did miss my colleague’s wake and funeral while I was away, but I heard it was beautiful and I would have been proud. That being said, I caught up on my messages and emails and lo and behold, a couple of good things happened too. They’re both worthy of their own posts, but I am doing this one tonight.

dragons-loyalty-awardMy friend Krystol at A Writer With Something To Say has honored me with The Dragon’s Loyalty Award .

Thank you so much Krystol, you have made my day! 😀

In order to accept the Dragon’s Loyalty Award, the following rules apply:

2. Announce your win with a post and thank the Blogger who awarded you.
3. Present 4 deserving Bloggers with the Award
4. Link your awardees in the post and let them know of their being awarded.
5. Write seven interesting things about you

I’ve chosen the four blogger below for this award because they’ve some have stood by me from the beginning and others have been invaluable to me since my return:

1. Marilyn Parel at On Becoming a Writer
2. Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh at Alex J. Cavanaugh
3. Karen Soutar at Karen Soutar and
4. Melissa Janda at Melissa Janda – A Time to Write
Seven Interesting Facts about me:

  1. Although I use the name Lilica or Lily in all my writing, blogging and reviewing, my real name is Eva! OMG!  😀  Who’da thunk it…
  2. I am taking an online fiction writing class with Gotham Writing Workshops and loving it.
  3. I seriously considering dedicating a separate page to stroke awareness and resources in memory of those close to me that I’ve lost recently (under my real name)
  4. I am currently planning a trip (if doctors give me the OK) to visit Hungary some time late this year or early next. Never been and would love to see where my parents were born.
  5. I love House of Cards and Kevin Spacey.
  6. I will have something published this year!
  7. I know I’m behind the times, but I treated myself to the newest Keurig model and am so loving it. Even I deserve to be spoiled once in a while.

So that’s it for this post friends. More good news to be coming soon. I have faith that more good things will be coming my way soon. Hugs to you all until next post.

More Award Nominations!

I’ve been so caught up with things over the past couple of months, my Stroke Journey telling and some unforeseen circumstances, that I’ve fallen behind in accepting new Awards I’ve been nominated for.  Some of them go back to August!! (Looking down at the floor in shame)… I am so very sorry. I was going to address the Awards in one post and cover them all in one shot. Some are duplicate Awards, but out of respect and gratitude to the person(s) that nominated me, I wanted to fulfill the Award requirements. I can’t accomplish that in one post, unless you want to read one gigantic post. . . I didn’t think so either.

What I am going to do instead, is work my way from the oldest to the newest and have them done no later than Tuesday. Expect two or three Award related posts within the next two days. 🙂

Going all the way back to August;

WORDPRESS FAMILY AWARD

I must thank my adopted WordPress daughter Briana Vedsted over at http://whenibecameanauthor.wordpress.com for nominating me for the WordPress Family Award. This is a big one for me. Once again, she has made me feel so blessed and humbled. I didn’t forget you Briana!! 😀

1. Display the Award logo on your blog

2. Link back to the person who nominated you.

3. Nominate ten others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family.

4. Let your ten family members know you have awarded them.  That’s it! Just make sure these people have taken you in as a friend/family member, and then spread that love!!!

I know some of my nominees already have this award. I don’t expect them to go through the procedure, but I nominated them anyway because they have helped me so much since I started blogging and getting more serious about my writing. I only ask that they accept it in the spirit in which it is given.

My nominees for this award are:

  1. Marilyn Parel, my BFF over at http://onbecomingawriter.com, who has been with me from my very first days. I don’t know what I’d do without her. Check out her blog when you get a chance. She’s a great Twitter resource, an up and coming screenwriter, great short story writer and is now into the Undead too!! Yup. That’s my family!
  2. Janet K West over at http://janetkwest.com, Can’t help reading her blog. I ask most of the very same questions! 🙂 Check her out sometime.

  9. Jennifer over at http://jenniferzeiger.com who’s got a really cool site with reader participation story creations, great short stories and other info. She just released a book on Halloween ‘Midnight Abyss’, which was a collaborative effort between her and eight other great writers who met at Writers Carnival, a great writers group that I am proud to say I am a part of.
  10. My friend over at http://lifeconfusions.wordpress.com . She’s a wonderful young lady with a great new blog, and posts things I love, like ‘A song a day keeps the sadness away’ 🙂 Check her out sometime! Oh, and she’s studying physiology too. Hello!!

That’s going to be it for this Award post. Congratulations to my nominees! Until next post, love you guys!

I’ve Been BLITZED! And I Loved Every Minute!

The past few weeks have been extraordinarily busy for me. Between writing my post series about my stroke, some personal issues I’m dealing with on the home front, working on my novel, keeping up with my social media (or trying to, at least), I’ve been a chicken without a head. I had fallen behind in some things that I usually do religiously; like check my email.

I have followed DL Hammon’s BLOG BLITZ since I started my blog. Well, maybe two or three weeks after. . . Anyway, I’ve blitzed bloggers every time . I love it. I was beside myself when I checked my email recently only to find that I had missed a Blitz!

Willing to accept whatever punishment DL saw fit, I emailed him after I finally saw the Blitz email (five days later. Ayeee). I threw myself on the mercy of the Blitz King’s Court and briefly explained my circumstances. I was not, however, willing to accept being removed from the Blitz roster. . . (of course, I didn’t mention that to King, Master DL. I was too busy groveling explaining). I didn’t hear anything back from him. I thought to myself, that can’t be good.

The next thing I know, I go to my blog and I have a ton of comments waiting to be approved! I was ecstatic! The comments were amazing, inspiring and definitely lift me up spiritually. Thank you all!

And DL, if this is the kind of punishment you hand down to your subjects, give me more!! You are amazing!

On that note, I’m going to end this post with a huge smile on my face and hugs to all my blogger friends; old and new. Love you guys!

Sunshine Blogger Award

About a week ago, I had the honor of being nominated by the beautiful and talented J.C. Wolfe for my first Sunshine Blogger Award. If you haven’t visited her site yet, please do so at http://jaycwolfe.com. You won’t regret it! For someone as new to the blogging world as I am, this gives me a tremendous feeling of accomplishment. I have only had my blog for about five or six months and in that time, have become part of a family I could never have imagined.

The rules for the Sunshine Blogger Award are as follows:

  2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  3. Share ten pieces of information about yourself.
  4. Nominate ten fellow bloggers who “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.”  I can’t do all ten this time around, so I will be doing six.  (This will go for my nominees as well. Do what you can handle).
  5. Leave a comment on the nominees blogs to tell them about the award.

TEN PIECES OF INFORMATION ABOUT ME

  2. I am trying my hand at poetry.
  3. While on vacation in Florida four years ago, I was a poolside audience member during a taping of  ‘The Maury Show”. It was one of those whatever happened to, baby mama drama nostalgia episodes. Why was he surrounded by bikini clad hotties for that show? I’ll never know.
  4. I still have my first EMT card that Christopher Meloni from ‘Law and Order: SVU” autographed for me after taping an episode at one of the hospitals I used to regularly transport patients to.  “Thanks for the CPR. Christopher Meloni”   *sigh*

  6. I am slowly starting to work on a Facebook page.
  7. I  love tropical drinks.
  8. I never get tired of learning new things.
  9. I finally got my Scrivener to help me with my novel. My organizational skills are still on hiatus it seems.
