Jackie Felger from Bouquet of Books and Dani Bertrand from Entertaining Interests founded this great blog hop that has a great group of people with weekly topics that change every month. They also have a site they co-author together:  Cover Girls.

This topic for July 6-10 is: What are 3 things you wish you were better at?

Narrowing it down to 3 is difficult because there are so many things I wish I were better at. I’m going to put things on the list I was good at before, but lost some skill in recent years.

They’ll come back.

  1. Driving

  2. Cooking

  3. Dancing

There you have it. My big three. 🙂 What skills do you all wish you could do better? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I found it funny that the 3 things that you would like to do better are the things I hate most. I hate driving and only do it when I have to. The same for cooking. The fewer ingredients and steps the better. As for dancing, I never dance. When I’ve danced in the past, I felt self-conscious about people watching me. I watch other people dance while knowing that I could do much better. Have fun practicing these things. I’ll just watch.

    • LOL, I want to do them better now because I basically can’t do them at all anymore. I took those things for granted before I got sick and now wish I hadn’t. I was almost like you when it came to dancing – a little self-conscious. I don’t care what I look like now, as long as I try. 🙂 I didn’t get my license until I was 30, but I like the independence of being able to get up and go. My neuro just cleared me after four years. I have to practice again. When I was in EMS I much preferred being the tech than the driver, trust me. 🙂 Cooking is another story. I love cooking. I have to be careful now only because of my distractibility issues. I’m going the fewer ingredient route now just to get back into the swing of things, and I only focus on one dish at a time. Feel free to ‘watch me’ any time. I could use an occasional ‘watcher’. 😀 Have a great day. Hugs. Eva

    • Good ones, Patricia! I’m literally clueless with html. I know some Spanish, which is similar to Italian in some ways. Didn’t realize you play piano. Nice! I’m working on improving my skills again, are you going to go for it? Blessings. Eva

  2. I’m assuming the driving and dancing was affected by your stroke and hopefully they will be back up to par before too long. As for cooking, it’s something you have to develop an interest in I guess. If you like to eat good food and the only way you can get it, or afford it, is by making it yourself, then you have to get in there and make it. These days with a bad back that becomes more difficult of course. Love and hugs.

For me, there are many things I wish I were better at, learning languages for a start. Used to talk fairly good Spanish once, not any more. French isn’t bad though.

    • All three things were affected by the stroke, GMD. I was a good cook also. Cooking alone is difficult because of my distractibility issues, and I would have to focus on one dish at a time, whereas before I could work on several different dishes without a problem. I took a culinary arts class between shifts a few years before getting sick, so I could expand my skill set. If I could get these skills back to where they were, I’d start a new one. 🙂 Love you! Xoxoxo

    • I love your three things, Jo. I don’t know if I could say that my good or bad choices have had wonderful outcomes. That remains to be seen, I guess. I’ve missed you.

    • Eva,
Every consequence is an opportunity to excel. Even if it’s a trial to relearn what we’ve lost. I’m finding new and exciting things even with the bad stuff and you know I know Murphy’s Law.
I was a part time culinary arts instructor. While I may never plate or use my knives as well as I once did…it tastes wonderful. All it took was adapting and not comparing it to what I once did.
I’ve missed me too. Blogging a little. Most is kind of morbid since we are in the final countdown for my husband.

    • I know, Jo. I have some gadgets here that I’m going to try using to help me with some of the more intricate things (this veggie slicing thingie, for one).

I’ve been keeping up with what you’ve been posting. Praying a lot is all I can do, because I just don’t have the words. Like I said in one of my emails to you, if you need me, I’m here. (((HUGS)))

    • Charles, relaxing is included on my weekly goal list and I make sure it’s checked off. I don’t care if it includes an episode of Sons of Anarchy (new fave, who knew?), a hour or two of reading, or Mandy’s visits. She tries for every other weekend, but when she does, I take most of the time to relax and enjoy her company.

You’re a lot like me then. I was never good at relaxing either. I have to work at it even now. Heck, it’s on a GOAL list for crying out loud! 🙂 Friend to friend, find the time. We all need to regroup every now and again. Hugs. Eva

    • I try to relax, but it doesn’t typically happen. Not well enough to have an impact on my energy or mood. I’ve done this ranting song and dance before. All I can say now is that I hope to one day get to a point where I can relax without guilt or fallout. It isn’t even having to work at it. My attempts have been dashed so often that I keep expecting my attempts to fail.
